To make a call from your Home screen, press the Contacts icon on the Launcher bar and then select the Phone tab to open the Phone dialer.

You can set up a shortcut to open the Phone dialer direct from your Home screen. Find a screen with space on it and then press the Options key and Add item. Alternatively you can press and hold on the area of the screen where you want to add the item and press Add item in the popup box. Select Shortcut > Applications > Phone - the shortcut will be added to your Home screen.

You can also set up direct dial shortcuts on your Home screen. Follow the steps above to open the Add item popup box, then select Direct dial and choose the contact and number you want to link to from the Home screen. You'll then be able to call the number just by tapping the shortcut.

If you really don't want to talk to someone, you can divert all of their calls straight to their voicemail. To do this, open Contacts and select the contact whose calls you want to dodge. Press the Options key and then select Options > Incoming calls. Now your phone won't ring when they call you and they'll go straight to your voicemail service.

Missed calls will appear as notifications in your Status bar. Drag the status bar down on the screen and press the Missed call notfication to open the Call log.

You can also open the Call log by opening Contacts from the Launcher bar and pressing the Call log tab.

In the Call log, you can edit a number before calling it by pressing and holding the number you want to edit and select Edit number before call from the list of options. This will open the number in the Phone dialer so you can edit it using the keypad before pressing the Call icon to dial.
