The Gmail application automatically syncs your Gmail messages with your inbox so your email is always being pushed to your phone. To switch off auto-sync, you'll need to open Settings from the Main Menu and then select Accounts & Sync. Choose the Google account associated with your Gmail account and untick Gmail sync.

You can then manually sync your Gmail by opening the Gmail application from the Home screen or Main Menu and then pressing the Options key and selecting Refresh.

Your Gmail accounts are linked to Google accounts on your phone. These can be used to sync and manage Calendars and Contacts as well as your Gmail messages.

To add a new Gmail or Google account, open the Gmail application from the Home screen or Main Menu and then select Accounts > Add account. Follow the steps on-screen to set up your new account. You'll then see your new account in the Gmail application. Tap this to see your inbox.
