What is Facebook?
A social utility designed to help people connect and share with friends.
-
What can I do with Facebook?
You can check your inbox, follow your newsfeed, see pokes, respond quickly, see your friends status messages and pictures, see friends’ profiles, post on other peoples walls, update your status, upload photos and more. You can send messages to Facebook friends, and see your friends’ latest profile picture and status directly from the contacts list. There’s a handy widget to keep you in touch with what your friends are doing right now.
-
What can I not do with Facebook?
You cannot use Applications like add-on Facebook games, but all the core features of Facebook are available to use on your INQ¹.
-
Does it cost money to use Facebook?
There’s no charge for using Facebook. The Facebook for INQ¹ application uses ‘data’ when connecting to the internet (for updates, new messages, etc). Your network provider may charge you for that data - check with your provider how they will charge you. An INQ¹ is best used with a flat-rate data plan (ie. unlimited data for a fixed price).
-
Do I need to open the browser to get to Facebook?
Your INQ¹ talks directly to Facebook using your data connection. For some Facebook functions Facebook will open your mobile’s internet browser. Both ways of using Facebook use the same data connection.
-
Do I need to log in every time?
Facebook can log you in automatically each time you turn on your mobile. If you want to set this up, go to Options > Settings > Log in & updating, and choose ‘Ask for password’ in the ‘Log me in’ field.
-
Can I put my friends Facebook photos in my contacts list?
Yes, you can select which friends to add to your contacts list – you don’t have to add them all. For details on how to do this, see below. For any Facebook friends you have added to your INQ¹ contacts list, their photos will be automatically downloaded to your phone, and will appear in the contacts list.
-
How do I get my friends' profile pictures and status messages in my contacts list?
To see friends’ status messages and profile pictures in your contacts list, add friends to your Mobile Friends List. Open Facebook (login if you haven’t already done so), scroll up and select Friends, then scroll right to Mobile Friends list. Select ‘Edit Mobile friends list’ at the top of this page, and mark those Facebook friends you’d like to add to your contacts list. Press Done when finished.
In your contacts list you can merge contacts (so that John Smith’s Facebook profile is connected to the mobile number you have for John Smith). To do this, go to your contacts list and highlight a name to be merged. Press Options, choose Merge and follow the instructions.
-
How many Facebook friends can I store?
You can have up to 1000 Facebook friends in your INQ¹ contacts list. The Facebook for INQ¹ application will store up to 5000 friends.
-
Do I have to be in Facebook to receive an alert?
You do have to be logged in, but you don’t have to have the application open to receive an alert. An alert will be shown by a small red dot in the Facebook icon at the top of the screen or in the switcher.
-
Can I see my wall?
Yes, you can view your wall and make updates.
